Robert was on edge with the new moon coming up soon. But he couldn't let that stop him from working. He had to eat, after all. It wasn't so bad now, with a week still until he was forced to change. So he could still manage his music lessons for a couple more days.

He was dressed as well as he ever was, in a dark Navy suit with off colored pinstripes and a subdued light gray tie. His hair parted to cover his more unantural looking blue eye. Most would think the yellow one was the unnatural one, but no. It at least didn't seem to glow from within.

He waited in the foyer of his apartment, a simple studio apartment with a single bedroom and bathroom coming off of the singular large room that occupied the rest of the living space. It was nothing paeticuparti fancy, but it was immaculately clean. Instruments dominated the space, including a gorgeous black piano and a cello on a stand. There were places to sit but no television to speak of in the space set aside for the living room.

His client today was a woman named Fe. He had eaten already in the day, so he hoped that his hunger wouldn't make things more difficult for him than they already would be. Robert checked his watch. Still a few minutes before their scheduled time.

"This must be it," Fe murmured to no one in particular as she glanced at the address she had gotten from one of the waiters at the Fox Hole. They had recommended Robert Blakesley when they heard she was looking to expand on her musical abilities and find herself a music teacher.

Fe was taking Music studies in school, but mostly it was voice and composition, coupled with musical recognition and reading. The theory of music she had down packed. She even knew how to play the flute and kuvysti, a type of pan flute, but the last one was only because it had, at first, helped her tune her voice and find the right key. Now, she had a desire to learn something different, something like the violin, piano or even a harp or lyre. Something that called to the Sirin side of her.

Shoving the paper in her jeans pocket, Fe brushed her hair over her shoulder and entered the building, stopping to check herself in a mirror before she went up to his apartment. Seeing that her makeup was fine, her lipstick still perfect, and her jeans and black tank unrumpled and not riding up under her red leather jacket, Fe then walked up the stairs, her heels echoing on the granite floors.

Two minutes later, and just barely on time, Fe found his apartment, rapped lightly at the door and waited patiently for her new music teacher.

Robert was at the door quickly when Fe knocked, but not too quickly. He didn't want to seem eager or disheveled by blowing his hair around too much. Taking a moment to cover his gently glowing blue eye with his hair and straighten his tie, he opened the door and offered a smile with his lips firmly closed.

"Good afternoon. Miss Glaux, I presume? I am Robert Blakesley. Please, come in," he said in a rather lax tone. Stepping aside, he gestured for her to come into the apartment.

"I can make you some tea if you'd like. I have several blends for guests. Or we can get right to business, whichever you would prefer."

When Robert opened the door not even moments later, Fe stared at him in surprise. She had actually been expecting someone older, like really older, gray hair, slightly spry, eccentric composer old. Instead, a young slightly melancholic, pale, starving composer type greeted her.

Quickly recomposing herself, Fe stepped into the smallish apartment and glanced around curiously. Taking in the piano which dominated the room, an assortment of instruments along with the smell of natural wood polish, Fe raised an eyebrow somewhat impressed by what she was seeing. It was an encouraging sight.

Turning to look at Robert when he spoke, Fe swept her gaze over him as if looking for something, finding it eventually, and putting it away for later. She then shook her head. "No, thank you," she said to his offer of tea. "Caffeine is bad for the vocal cords. I rarely drink it," she informed him evenly.

"Mr. Blakesley, Robert?" Fe started as she walked to the center of the room, her heels clicking on the hardwood, "Which instruments do you teach, and how many classes per week do you require from a student?" she asked as she regarded him questioningly.

"I suppose that's fair," Robert said as he followed Fe into his apartment, shutting the door behind him. "I have non-caffeinated herbal teas as well. And water."

But she seemed like she wanted to jump right into it. He nodded and slowly took off his coat and hung it up. "Straight to the point," he said plainly. "I can appreciate that. My specialties are woodwind and string instruments, particularly the saxophone and the cello. But I can teach any instrument, even the voice."

Offering Fe seat on the couch, he opted to take one of the straight backed chairs in the living room. Folding his hands in his lap, Robert continued. "The first lesson is without contract, to see if we are compatible. A teacher and a student who do not get along will not benefit one another. After that, you pay for each month of lessons and this entitles you to up to two scheduled lessons per week. Extra costs for extra lessons and all that. If you cancel or do not show up, you will not be reimbursed. If I have to cancel, I will reimburse you in kind for your trouble."

He paused, looking her over. She looked. Smelled delicious. He could feel his mouth starting to water, the teeth in his mouth growing and rapidly multiplying hidden behind his lips. No. He reminded himself that he was a gentleman. He would not succumb to his baser instincts. Finally, with a sigh, he added, "I will be unavailable two days every month. I will inform you of these dates ahead of time. For example, this month it is the seventh and eighth of December."

"Maybe some water, but later, if you don't mind," she told him matter-of-factly as she sat down in the seat provided, crossing her legs, hands crossed and resting on her knee, sitting with almost straight back perfect posture.

"I see," she said considering the choice of instruments. But leaving that for a moment, "You said you do voice too?" she asked with great interest. She wasn't sure she needed it, but the practice and forced discipline might be a good idea.

"Also, I am fine with the trial. I understand and wholeheartedly agree with the whole student-teacher thing. However, I would require more than two hours a week, especially if I decide to add voice to the mix," she said as she stared at Robert fixedly. "Would that be a problem?" she asked evenly whilst glancing at him questioningly and with open curiosity, her gaze sliding over him once again, having noted the two days mentioned, and knowing for a fact, they were the new moon. Being part night creature herself, Fe knew when the nights were ripe for hunting and when the moon was out, and when it was pitch dark, and hunting was not really a good option.

"That's fine. I don't get as many students this time of year anyway so I don't mind scheduling you for more lessons. Though of course extra lessons will cost extra depending on how many you want." This was tedious. Not because of anything Fe was doing, but because Robert could feel his inner Wolf, his inner Wendigo clawing and snapping at the inside of his skull, wanting out. He went on to explain how he priced his lessons and what she could expect each time she visited.

"With those formalities out of the way, what precisely are you looking for, Miss Glaux? You seem interested in singing, that much is certain. But it will help me know how to prepare if I know ahead of time exactly what it is you are looking for."

Fe was familiar with all the ins and outs of lessons. It was tedious but necessary to get all the little details out of the way. Thankfully, she could easily afford the lessons, thanks to both jobs and the odd singing gig at private parties and on the weekends.

At Robert's question, Fe nodded once. "Well, I am a singer, semi-professional, I guess, and I do have a pretty good vocal range but I want to improve that range as well as better harmonization..." she said. 'Basically, I sing but have no time to train the voice," she explained.

"As for an instrument, that is a little more difficult. I am interested in quite a few things - from the piano, violin, flute, cello to the harp, or lyre," she admitted. "There, I am more open to suggestions, I know people come with an instrument in mind, I haven't. It's more like I want the instrument to choose me," she said, knowing that sounded odd, but as a sirin a lot of times things just happened like that. Things called to her and she went from there.

Robert nodded along, making mental notes of things he would need to write down later for Fe's lessons. He clutched his hands together tight, his knuckles turning white (though that was legitiemlegi hard to tell given how pale he was already). His hunger was starting to gnaw at him, reminding him of it's constant presence.

When Fe was done speaking, Robert merely nodded and gave her another tight lipped smile. "That all sounds reasonable, Miss Glaux. If you'd like, you can take a look at the instruments I have here. See if there is anything that particularly speaks to you."

He paused and stood up slowly, buttoning his coat back up as he did. "As for your voice, I myself am not a singer but as the adage goes, those who cannot, teach. Pardon me though, I need to get a glass of water."

He practically glided over to the kitchen, filling a glass with lukewarm water from his faucet and taking a long drink of it, ending with a sudden gasp of air. He refilled the glass and slowly returned to the living room. "My apologies. Now where were we?"

Fe was quite used to teachers not singing themselves, or being former singers who didn't sing anymore, so the fact Robert mentioned that just caused her to shrug. That didn't bother her, as long as he knew what he was doing.

And when he asked her if she'd like to take a look at the instruments available, and see if anything called to her, she gave him a nod, and got up to wander around the room.

Inspecting each instrument, Fe lightly ran a finger over each of them, hoping each one talked to her. And after a short while, and a few instruments, she hovered over the piano uncertainly. She felt something, but it hadn't been one of the choices he had offered her.

"Do you teach piano?" she peered at him with interest when he came back.
