It was time. Time to do something she didn't want to do. But it was important, that much she knew. A few months ago, she was almost caught by a scary person when she was just looking for something to eat. She didn't know why the person wasn't as friendly as the others she had met, but she came to the conclusion that unless she confronted the person, she would have to keep hiding herself, but now that she could understand people, she longed to talk to more people. But this was a real risk, she knew. If she couldn't escape when the scary person tried to catch her again, she would probably be taken away. She was taken once by someone who wore the same clothing as the one who scared her out, but they also tried to keep her from feeding herself. So she learned to avoid those people. But now that she had grown and could understand, she hoped she would be able to talk to the person who scared her, and maybe they won't want to catch her anymore. For a while now, she was looking for the scary person, and only recently did she find out that the person went by the name, Angelo. He and the person who caught her first were called the police, and they were supposed to help people. That was what made her want to talk to them. But she was still scared, so she had to make sure she was someplace she could escape from. One such place was inside an abandoned building. She used to look around this place to find food, and when it ran out, it was used as a place where she could hide in when her owner wasn't home. Thinking that that was all she needed, she wrote a letter saying "ANGELO! Important Apology. Please meet here", along with crudely drawn directions to the abandoned building from where she decided to drop the letter off. Her handwriting was horrible, and she left pink stains everywhere whenever she touched a piece of the paper, but it was legible enough. She left the note on a post in the street where she knew Angelo usually walked around this time of night. She made it stick to the pole with a little bit of slime. She hoped that the honey-like smell and the pink slime would clue Angelo in to who she was, and she hoped he wouldn't bring that loud machine with him. The abandoned building was only a block away, and could be seen from where the letter was. She was peeking from the top floor, just to make sure no one took the letter except for Angelo.

Generally speaking, Jude would have assumed important apology meant... well, someone who had something to apologize for. Xavier, maybe. Riley. Maddie. Any number of people, actually. A lot of people had gotten on his bad side, and he supposed that really came down to the fact that he wasn't much of a forgive and forget person.

But a hand written letter stained with pink stains? That looked like it was written by a child? Nope, Jude had absolutely no goddamn idea. He stared at it incredulously, checked the time, and then took a picture of the note... just in case.

The whole thing was something he'd have described as shady if it wasn't so comically inept. It had to be a child on the other end of the note, but why they'd need to apologize to him...

Jude kept himself on guard just the same as he wandered towards the abandoned building. Shady. So shady. But if someone was going to jump him, they were going to be in a lot of trouble, and his hand hung loosely at his side, ready to pull if needed.

"...Hello?" He called out, his voice quiet even if it carried in the empty interior.

Seeing Angelo reading the note and coming to the meeting spot, Honey was both relived and frightened. He must have realized who wrote the note, and he was coming either because he wanted to listen, or to catch her once and for all. But she was prepared for that. She knew this place in and out. She could escape this place if she needed to. When Angelo spoke, Honey found his voice to ring her sense of danger and felt like running. This really was him. The house opened up to the living room, where there used to be a few scraps of food. Now, only unusable garbage was left, like cans and bottles. "You are Angelo, yes?" the slime spoke up, her voice unnatural, somewhat masked with a drowning sound. The human voice box was hard to replicate. The ceiling creaked as she seeped out from the cracks and took the shape of her humanoid form. The windows let in enough light from outside to make the slime visible and identifiable enough to not be mistaken for a nightmare monster. "You tried to catch Honey Drop when she was small." The slime was intently studying Angelo's movements, not wanting to be caught unaware if he does try to catch her. "But... Honey Drop was also trouble. Now Honey Drop wants to say sorry. You accept?"

The speaker was definitely not human, only that didn't exactly ward him away the way it might have back in Halcyon. There were dozens of beings he'd met and befriended who were entirely non-human, but it was still something that piqued his natural curiosity. They were definitely... something? Definitely something, for sure. Something pink and liquidy, and...

Ah, a slime? That made sense. Something like Alice, only less... together. More obvious. Alice looked all but human, while the pink slime in front of him couldn't be mistaken for anyhting but a slime in the light.

Of course the real problem was, even standing in front of them, Jude had absolutely no idea what they were talking about, and he glanced over his shoulder, half expecting someone to be beside him, before turning back.

"Uh," Angelo said after a moment. "Are you sure you're talking to the right person? We've never met." That was something he could say with certainty. His memory didn't fail him--especially not on something like this.

The slime was confused. She was sure that this was the same person who tried to catch her before, why did he not remember her? Was it because she didn't look like her smaller blob form? Was that it? "You do not remember Honey Drop?" She sank to the floor, shedding much of her mass to turn into a blob no bigger than a melted soccer ball. She looked at Angelo and glided around the floor and bounced up and down, hoping that this might make him remember. With such a small body, the slime couldn't get the right amount of air to even try to say a word, so she was silent the whole time, save for the splooshing sounds she made when she hit the ground after a hop. She rejoined the rest of her shed mass and reformed her humanoid body, looking confused still. "Does Angelo remember Honey Drop now?" she asked.

Nope. He had no idea. He was watching them bounce around (thinking vaguely 'man, they're cute like that'), and just... nothing. No reaction. He waited for them to reform before he offered a shrug.

"I think you have the wrong person," Jude said. "I have a perfect memory--literally, it's a power thing--and I never met you."

He paused, craning his neck around the surrounding area, and then glanced back to Honey Drop with a grimace.

"Was it really necessary to meet me here? I almost didn't come."

Nothing? Sure he had shorter hair than the last time she saw him, but surely that doesn't affect memory. Unless that is where he stores them? What if his memory was in his hair, that would make sense why he couldn't remember, because the slime was sure this person couldn't be anyone else. She looked to him, retreating a bit. "Honey Drop was scared Angelo would try and catch her again with noisy tube. Noisy tube scares Honey Drop. Wanted to run if Angelo had noisy tube." The slime looked disappointed, her form slumping a little. "Angelo really does not remember Honey Drop? How can Honey Drop say sorry if Angelo does not remember?"

Nope, he wasn't really following. Noisy tube?

And then a lightbulb kind of clicked on over his head. Something about the situation, the absurdity of it...

"Was I... uh, bigger?" He mimed being a few inches taller than he was. "And buffer?" Maybe that was too complicated a word. Better to go simple. "With a lot more hair?"

Finally! He must have remembered, she thought to herself. It must be all coming back to him now! He remembered he had longer hair, and while she hadn't thought about the physical differences between him then and him now since she hadn't thought that it was something important, the Angelo now did seem to be smaller. Had he shed some of his mass since last she saw him? Was he capable of that? It was likely. But she was happy to have made some progress. Maybe he will remember everything, and that was slightly worrying, but since she didn't do anything to threaten him, he would probably be happy to hear her say sorry. The thought made the slime tighten her form, excited. "Yes, Angelo was bigger and had longer hair. You remember? Can Honey Drop say sorry now?"

Realistically? He probably should have figured this out ahead of time. He should have guessed. The pink slime on the note should have given away a lot of the situation, but... well, how could he have guessed 'big me tried to catch a giant pink slime'?

Or maybe a small one, from what they'd said.

"No," Jude said. "Sorry, it's not me. I mean, my name is Angelo, but there's another Angelo Genovese on the island. He's probably the one who did, but we're not the same person. I could... call him?"

That was his best idea.

But, wait a second.

"Hold on. Was he wearing a blue uniform when he did all this?" Because that would change things... well, considerably. There was a big difference between Angelo doing is casually, and Angelo doing it as part of his job.
